Thing One

Emma has a stuffed animal that is from a Dr Sues book. I don't know that it has a proper name but I call it Thing One. Recently, Emma has really taken to this thing. Today I found her putting it into her high chair and buckling it in and taking it down and doing it all over again. At one point she climbed in and snuggled up with Thing One and patted it on the bartookimus. It was rather cute. Then she took it shopping with the cart.

Our New Kitchen

We got a new kitchen.

This kitchen has many nice features including a washer and dryer and a dishwasher. That is really what sold me on this kitchen. Emma was so excited for her kitchen.

Like any good Texan, Emma wanted to fry her pancake, because we fry everything here in this state.

Emma's favorite part of the kitchen was the phone oddly enough.

My New House Keeper

I have a new house keeper. And the best part is she is free. She will probably quit working for me in about 2 years or less.

Emma loves to put things away and says, "away, away, away" as she is doing it. She puts books back on the shelves, and tries to hang up my clothes. In the attempt to hang up my clothes she knocks off more than she can hang up, mostly because she can't actually reach to hang up my clothes. She will stand in my closet shouting "away" and have a melt down until I can get there to help her hang up the clothes. Same thing with the books if she can't put them back on the shelf without help.

She also loves, loves, loves to throw stuff away in the trash. She will find lint on my carpet and wait at the garbage can for me to lift her up to throw it out. She used to hate to have me wipe her nose but now she loves it because she can throw out the tissue. Even at the park she will pick up trash so she can put it in the trash. Cigarette butts and all. It is awesome.

Emma loves to vacuum and sweep. But really she would rather have me hold her while I sweep and vacuum.

Hermann Park

We took Emma to Hermann Park in downtown Houston last night since it was such a nice day. It turned colder in the drive down there... oh well. She loved the ducks (which I call turkey-ducks for obvious reasons.) These ducks had no fear of Emma. I had more fear than Emma in fact.

There is a tree at the park that has a long low hanging branch that you can sit and bounce on. I would love to have a tree like that in our yard.

So you are probably wondering what was the favorite part of the park for Emma? The stairs. Ducks in a close second and the bouncy tree, ehhh...

Singing and Conducting the Hymns

Emma loves to sing at church. She makes sure we open the hymnal even if we know the song. She recently noticed the chorister and now conducts the music like a professional.

Spray Bottle Part II

Emma found the spray bottle again.

She also has a thing for trying on my shoes. She and her cousin Amanda might be good friends.

As Soon As She Can Say, "I Want One"

I took Emma to the pet store today. She loved it. The birds, the cats, the gerbils, she loved it all. She had a great time looking at all of the animals. It wasn't until the end of our visit that I noticed the sign that said "do not tap the windows." I am pretty sure that the birds' hearts were racing when Emma was tapping on the windows. I would like to view our visit as a cardio work out for the animals, particularly for the birds. Those animals don't get enough exercise anyway. And, as soon as Emma can say, "Mommy, I want a [fill in any animal here]," we will never go back to the pet store ever again.
